I don't even know...

Gap Kids shirt, handed-down Gap Outlet dress, vintage espadrilles, mom's old necklace, Roxy watch

I feel like my photos could be a kind of visual spinoff of Zach Galifianakis's (spelled that right the first time, oh yeah!) show Between Two Ferns. Maybe I'll change the name of my blog to Between Two Trees, and I can invite people to talk about our outfits, except it would be boring and not funny because no one really cares. Like, for example, today's interview might be about how to categorize my ensemble here. Preppy cowgirl with a dash of dressy casual? Dress that's slightly inappropriate for work made passable with a shirt thrown over it? Attempt at maybe not wearing a cardigan with every single dress every time I wear it? Yeah, I wouldn't want to read that either.

Incognito

Maurices cardigan, Value Village (Ralph Lauren) t-shirt, Goodwill skirt,
vintage Ferragamo oxfords, vintage scarf as a belt, San Diego Hat Company fedora

So I was getting dressed one morning, wearing this skirt and t-shirt, and figuring out what else to add, and saw this scarf in the bottom of my closet. I picked it up, wrapped it around my waist, looked in the mirror, and thought "why the heck not?" And then I put on the cardigan and hat and Joe saw my outfit and said [relevant info: we are in a band together] I was the last person he would expect to be in a rock band.

Also, I'm sorry if your brain exploded when you saw me wearing this much brown and black, because I think maybe some people still believe that's not okay. But it IS okay, people. Neutrals like each other. Stop telling them they can't play together.

The feels of summer

Vintage boy's shirt, Mudd shorts, vintage espadrilles, Roxy watch, Ralph Lauren sunglasses

There are certain atrocities I will never abide, no matter how persistantly they march on in the "style" lexicon. Leggings as pants when your shirt is above butt level. Uggs and Crocs. Spray tans. Ponchos. Oh, my nemesis the poncho.

But I'm probably guilty of getting on other people's style nerves sometimes, too. For example- when it's hot and gorgeous out, and I'm feeling summer feeelings, I can't help busting out my booty shorts. Luckily, I don't have much of a booty, so it's really not that scandalous. But, as a person nearing her thirties, should I even be allowed to own these? Maybe not. But that's not going to stop me.

My kingdom for a pocket...two actually

Pacsun cardigan, Candies dress, mom's old belt, Steve Madden flats

I'm of the opinion, as I'm sure most of you are, that any dress made in such a way that it is possible to add pockets, should in fact have pockets. But especially in the case of a dress like this, with strategically placed pleats and extra volume in the pocket area. So whenever I put it on, I instinctively check...but sadly, it has not sprouted pockets since the last time I wore it.

Pretty in Pink

Express cardigan,  Hamlet's Vintage dress, vintage espadrilles

When Joe and I were in New York City last month, we didn't have much time nor much of a clue what we were doing. My one and only goal was to find a vintage shop and score something...anything really.  Basically I just wanted to own an item of clothing that, when I got complimented on it, I could casually respond "Oh this? Yeah, I picked it up in a vintage shop in NYC."

Well, after stumbling on about five record shops and no vintage clothing stores, we gave up and headed to dinner, when lo and behold Hamlet's Vintage appeared. And so this lovely pink confection of a dress came into my life. And we all lived happily ever after.

Vintage on vintage

Vintage dress (my mom's from high school), American Rag cardigan, vintage Salvatore Ferragamo shoes

This dress is, apparently, called a gunnysack dress. My mom used to wear it in high school, saved it for years, and it was eventually pilfered by me. I then hacked off about five inches. Love the toggle buttons and muted colors...the pattern epitomizes 70s style. This time I went with the Ferragamo oxfords...next time I'll have to try it with my espadrilles.

Porch Party

Handed down sweater, Target children's section dress, gifted boots

You get pictures and very little exposition today, and you'll like it. OK?

Radiowho?

Unionbay jacket, my husband's t-shirt, Pacsun jeans, New York and Co. wedges

Don't you hate it when you accidentally steal things from your job? Like, for example, when you work at a shop that sells many items, including jewelry, and you put on a necklace when you're there, and then you leave and drive home and you're walking up the entrance to your apartment building and you realize you're still wearing it? And then, since you can't really do anything about it at that moment, you keep wearing it when you go to your friends' house and watch Punch-Drunk Love? Man, I hate that.
